Secure PasswordVault Terms of Service
Effective date: October 10, 2026
Last updated: October 10, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your installation and use of the Secure PasswordVault application, website, support resources, and any related features we provide (collectively, the "Services"). By installing, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. You must be legally able to enter this agreement.
2. License and permitted use
Subject to these Terms, Secure PasswordVault grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the application for personal purposes and internal business purposes. This license does not transfer ownership of the Services or their content.
You may not:
- resell, rent, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Services except with our written permission;
- reverse engineer, bypass, disable, or interfere with security or access controls except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits;
- use the Services to violate law, infringe rights, distribute malicious content, or gain unauthorized access;
- misrepresent the origin of the Services or remove proprietary notices; or
- overload, probe, disrupt, or misuse our websites or online services.
3. Your vault and security responsibilities
The current Secure PasswordVault release stores and encrypts your vault locally. Cloud Backup and Cloud Restore are not currently available. You are responsible for:
- choosing and protecting a strong master password;
- maintaining control of your Windows account and device;
- keeping any recovery material and exported files safe;
- verifying imported data and maintaining any backups you require; and
- deciding whether and where to paste or disclose copied credentials.
We cannot retrieve or reset a forgotten master password or decrypt a vault without the required credentials. Loss of your master password, device state, recovery material, or export may cause permanent data loss.
4. Security information is advisory
Password-strength, reuse, breach, destination, and other security indicators are tools to help you make decisions. They may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or incorrect. A password or destination that is not flagged is not guaranteed to be secure, and a warning does not necessarily prove compromise or malicious intent. You remain responsible for evaluating and protecting your accounts.
Application password-exposure checks may use a third-party breached-password service through a privacy-preserving partial-digest request. The public website's Email Breach Check opens a user-supplied address directly on the Have I Been Pwned website using its supported account-result link. Third-party breach information may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate, and a clear result does not prove that an address or password has never been exposed. The provider may change, restrict, suspend, or discontinue its data or interface. Secure PasswordVault may replace or modify providers and methods to preserve or improve these features.
5. Import, export, and external destinations
You are responsible for confirming that you have the right to import data and for protecting imported and exported files. Chrome, Edge, and supported CSV password exports may contain plaintext credentials and should be deleted securely after import. Secure PasswordVault exports the complete vault only as an encrypted portable package, which should be kept separately from both its Recovery Kit and its master password. Secure PasswordVault may display links or open websites in your default browser; external sites and services are controlled by their respective operators, not Secure PasswordVault.
6. Secure Search and browser settings
The Services may include Secure Search or related browser features. By accepting these Terms and installing or using the Services, you authorize Secure PasswordVault, from time to time, to add, select, modify, restore, or reapply browser settings reasonably related to providing, maintaining, or improving those features. These settings may include the default search provider, address-bar search, new-tab or homepage behavior, search suggestions, and related browser configuration.
Where required by law or platform policy, we will provide additional notice or request additional consent. You can change supported settings using controls made available by your browser, Windows, or Secure PasswordVault. Search, destination, and security information may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate and does not guarantee that a website or result is safe.
7. Fees, premium features, and sponsored functionality
The current Secure PasswordVault release is provided without a product fee. We may later introduce optional premium features, paid subscriptions, sponsored functionality, or sponsored content. We will disclose material terms before charging you. We will not charge a payment method without the authorization required by applicable law and the applicable store or payment provider. Free functionality, pricing, or feature availability may change in future versions.
8. Updates and platform services
The Services may receive fixes, security updates, or feature changes through Microsoft Store or other approved delivery mechanisms. Updates may be required for security, compatibility, or continued online functionality. Microsoft, Windows, browser vendors, threat-intelligence providers, and other third parties operate under their own terms and policies.
9. Intellectual property and feedback
Secure PasswordVault and its licensors retain all rights in the Services, including software, designs, trademarks, text, and graphics. If you voluntarily provide feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use it to operate and improve the Services without obligation to you. This does not give us rights to your vault contents.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services and uninstall the application at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to online portions of the Services if you materially violate these Terms, create a security or legal risk, or if continued operation is no longer reasonably possible. Termination does not automatically delete local files from your device. Provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available." Secure PasswordVault disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, recovery of lost data, detection of every breach or threat, or that the Services will meet every requirement. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Secure PasswordVault and its affiliates, personnel, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, revenue, data, credentials, goodwill, or business opportunity; or unauthorized account access arising from or related to the Services. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising from or related to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Services during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
13. Changes to the Services or Terms
We may change or discontinue features and may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, security, or operational changes. We will post revised Terms and update the date above. We will provide additional notice where required. Continuing to use the Services after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
14. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement between you and Secure PasswordVault concerning the Services. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified only as much as necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer.
